Victory celebrations were held at Tirumalgiri Branch (Secunderabad) on 18th September and the well attended meeting is presided over by Com. A. Ramakotaiah Vice President of the branch union. Com.V.V.S.Murthy AGS, Com.K.R.G.Durgaprasadarao all India Vice President, Com.K.S.Koteswararao C.S A.P circle, Com.Peraiah Panthulu Dist President and Com.Ch.Ramakrishna Dist Secretary spoke on the occasion. While Com.S .B Dinakar welcomed the members Com .K. Yaswathkumar proposed a vote of thanks.
On 17-9-2016, our CHQ Vice President Com. G Babu and Karnataka Circle Secretary Com. R Changappa met the PA to Shri Ananthkumar to confirm the date convenient to the Minister for holding Special Victory Conference and CWC meeting in Bangalore.The date was not fixed because:
- The Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal is sitting on 19-9-2016 to resolve the issues.
- On 20-9-2016, the Supreme Court is taking up a petition connected with the Cauvery Water Dispute and recent agitations.
The atmosphere in Tamilnadu and Bangalore will depend upon decisions of the Tribunal and the Supreme Court.As such, the PA advised to wait till Thursday to assess further developments before finalizing the date.
We feel it is a correct approach.
Immediately after fixing the date, we shall announce the date of Special Conference and the date of next CWC Meeting of our Association both.

Bangalore is normal today. But, there is a new threat. Some people have declared a TAMILNADU BANDH on 16th September. If there is some violence on that day in Tamilnadu there will be reaction in Bangalore on 17th or 18th. A small spark is enough to spread. Nobody can predict what will be the position on 18th September.
We do not want to take any risk.
So we consulted PA to the Minister Shri Ananthakumar today.
To enable comrades from all over India to participate in the conference, it is decided to postpone the Special Conference to next month, October 2016.
It will be held after Durga Pooja and before Deepavali.
We have suggested either 16th (Sunday) or 23rd (Sunday) October 2016.
After confirming the convenience of Shri Ananthkumar, we shall announce the exact date.

Today, Committee Members of our Udaipur District branch (Rajastan) went to the office of Shri Arjun Lal MP and conveyed sincere thanks to their MP for his intervention and help in settling the case of 78.2%.

All arrangements are made to hold our Special Conference in Bengaluru on NEXT SUNDAY. But, suddenly the situation is totally changed on Cauvery water dispute. Bangalore city, otherwise calm and peaceful, is in trouble.A handful of anti-social elements and few narrow minded politicians can disturb the peaceful life of crores of people. We are not discussing that matter here now.
Will the Police permit?
We want to hold our conference even in adverse circumstances. But, Police permission is needed in the present tense situation.Today, our leaders will meet the Commissioner of Police of Bangalore and seek his permission. If permission is granted we will go ahead with the programme.
Will Ananthkumarj be present?
Next question is whether Shri Ananthkumar, who had given the time for our programme, will be asked to remain in New Delhi by the Prime Minister for urgent consultation. Some talks may take place on Cauvery row in Delhi and naturally, Shri Ananthkumar, the senior minister from Karnataka, may have to be present there. We can ascertain the position only on Friday or Saturday
How to hold the conference?
Since the picture is not clear at present, today morning, we have asked comrades from distant circles to cancel their tickets. They had to start tomorrow. Comrades from nearby circles can come if we hold the conference with permission of the police. The number of comrades coming from Tamilnadu may be little less. Due to heavy rains in coastal Andhra some comrades from that area may not be able to come.
In spite of all the unexpected developments and problems we are hopeful that we can hold the conference. We are confident. We are moving ahead. WE ARE QUITE EXPERIENCED IN ROWING IN ROUGH WATERS.
We are reviewing the situation every minute. We shall intimate our decisions then and there to all concerned.

As reported earlier in Pensioners Patrika, the Calicut (Kozhikode) district unit of AIBSNLPWA has formed an exclusive group for charity activities. Every year they spend more than Rs One Lakh, collected from our members in the district.
In connection with the BAKRID-ONAM celebrations this month, the comrades of our Calicut branch visited poor homes/orphanages and distributed clothes, sweets, other materials and financial aid also.

A Special meeting of Vellore branch (TN) was held on 7-9-2016 presided over jointly by Sri. Pon Arumugam and Sri V Arumugapandi. Com. Rajendran DS welcomed. Seven retired Executives joined our Association on the day realising that AIBSNLPWA is the organisation working for pensioners. Com. A Sugumaran, Circle Vice President addressed the meeting.
Our Legal Committee member Com. R L Kapoor reports from New Delhi:
"Our case was listed as Item No 23 in Court No 2 today. Items from 15 to 27 to be heard. But our case could not be reached. It is posted to 19-10-2016."
Govt. Of India has issued notification yesterday granting the benefit of seventh Central Pay Commission's recommendations to Defence personnel and nurses etc.
In the case of lower level soldiers and nurses and junior officers the multiplication factor is 2.57; same as given to central government civilian staff and pensioners.
But, for senior officers in the army like Brigadier and above the multiplication factor is 2.67.
The discrimination against lower paid staff continues.....
