With regard to granting of 78.2% benefit with extra increment to the left out cases will be decided soon, in consultation with DoT. Thus! I am quite excited to receive a report from Shri T Santhanagopal, VP of our Thanjavur branch about the way they celebrated Deepavali, instead of wasting money on crackers etc.

A team of our Pensioner comrades led by Shri V Swaminathan(District Secretary), Com. K S Krishnamoorthy and some lady comrades of Thanjavur in Tamilnadu visited different Orphanage Homes, Blind Boys Schools, Poor Girls Homes, Mentally Retards Rehabilitation Centres, Deaf and Dumb Home etc in the Temple Town and distributed good number of packets of clothes to the inmates, 650 packets of sweet etc. etc.

It is further heartening to note that Shri Vinodh, the PGMT of Thanjavur and Shri Vijayakumar, DGM participated in such a function organized by our District Association in an orphanage Anbalayam. The Instructors/Teachers and inmates of these Poor Homes were jubilant to receive the gifts from BSNL pensioners.

I congratulate the Thanjavur comrades who organize such charity programmes every year instead of spending money or crackers. This type of charity really gives light to the minds and eyes of hapless people.

Few photos are given below.

Yesterday, BSNL staff Unions have organized a candle march in Delhi demanding wage re vision. We congratulate them for the united action. We know candle cannot substitute sun. But it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

A sustained, united struggle is the essential pre-requisite to get wage revision. Some have the illusion that CMD and BSNL Board will help them. Attitude of the government is most important.

We have no illusion that once the serving staff get the wage revision the pensioners will automatically will get pension revision. Pensioners have to struggle for that. Our pension revision should be completely delinked from the wage revision issue of serving staff.

However, we are keen that serving staff get wage revision. They lost bonus. Normally Telecom employees used to get maximum bonus. More than the railway workers. Had we continued as Department of Telecom, minimum 80 days’ pay could be expected as bonus for each serving employee. That comes around Rs 18000. BSNL management has saved more than Rs 350 crore. Navrathri and Durga Puja have gone without bonus for BSNL staff. That is another indication. United struggle by entire BSNL employees including officers will become inevitable for wage revision.

Again, the case was taken up today by a double Bench consisting of Justice Mr. Permod Kohli, Chairman and Justice Mr. K N Srivasatava.

Advocate for CMD BSNL stated that they are filing their reply today. Advocate for the Government wanted further time of four weeks. Our Advocate wanted personal appearance of the Respondents. The Court told that this may be considered subsequently.

Com. G Natarajan (GS) and Com. T S Vittoban (Treasurer) reached Kolkata on 25-9-2017 evening. They attended the Kolkata Civil Wing District Conference on 26-9-2017. Since other branches representatives were not present it was decided to hold the West Bengal Circle conference on a later date ensuring participation by all.

Both GS and Treasurer met the PGM (Finance) and discussed cases of many medical claim bills pending. It is revealed that HR number is not fed in the ERP and hence the delay. PGM (F) assured prompt action to settle some pending cases pointed out.

For the purpose of MRS, the retirees of erstwhile Telegraph Traffic in Kolkata are clubbed with Circle Office. Due to Durga puja holidays, the GM (HR) of Circle Office who was in charge of the medical cases was not available and hence our leaders could not meet her.
